Typing long, Neurosurgery can Sandwiched & Inflamed

Neuropathy Seminar in Makassar

THIS could be a warning to those who work with a typewriter, computer or mobile phone. Apparently, typing the faint end can cause inflammation and pinched nerve knot.

It was raised neurologist doctors in Makassar, on Thursday (10/04/2012) in a seminar themed Neuropathy and Prevention. Consultant Neurologist Department of Neurology Faculty of Medicine RSCM dr. Manfaluthy Sp.S (K) said that if the pinched nerve can likely perform repetitive movements in a long time.

Manfaluthy said, typing it works by using your fingers and wrists. Elbow and forearm were also in it. "Nerves can be pinched and wound because it was used for a long time. Fingers and arms can be tense, less relaxed. Should be aware of this condition pinched nerve," explained the doctor who is also the central committee of Association of Physician Specialists Neural Indonesia (Perdossi) this.

Manfaluthy added, the use of smartphones such as the BlackBerry should be aware. S fingers typing can be stiff and pinched nerves. Consequently, fingers and hands can be numbness, tingling heat up.

"If you do not want to nerve problems, often taking vitamin B. You see, vitamin B is a nerve food needed to protect and regenerate nerves. Neural highly sensitive to vitamin B deficiency," he said.

At the same time, dr. Judy Goysal, Coordinator of the Study Neurophysiology and Neural Bank Perdossi Makassar said fingertip typing has worn the veil. When pressing the keys used in the long term and repetitive, there will be a hole, causing inflammation of nerve endings.

"The fingertip could be disrupted, for long so numb. Inflammation can interfere with the reaction occurring received brain," says Judy.

Judy adds, there are at least three major neural nodes that are at your fingertips. Nerve knot is a much used when typing motion with fingertips done.

"Damage to the nerves in the form of inflammation is called neuropathy. Symptoms are numbness, cramps, stiff, tingling, skin hypersensitivity. Everyone at risk. Especially the people who work with computers, typewriters or smartphone," he concluded.
