Revealed, Rare Type of Breast Cancer Facts!
Breast cancer is one of the leading causes of death in women worldwide. But there are still many people do not know more about this type of cancer is in the breast.
There are several types of breast cancer, but the most common are two types of ductal and lobular carcinoma carcionoma. Ductal carcinoma is a cancer that appears in the ductus or pipelines that transport milk in the breast.
Lobular carcinoma is cancer that found in the lobules or milk glands makers. Cancer that has not spread outside the duct or lobule are called in-situ means "in place". When it spreads, it is called invasive or infiltrating
Reported by BCC, the journal Nature published a study comparing the breast cancer in the world today. According to the researchers, the tests used in hospitals is now large enough to sort through breast cancer.
These findings provide more detailed mapping of breast cancer making it possible to find a certain type of breast cancer.
"Breast cancer is not just one disease, but rather consists of several different types of diseases. Our findings will pave the way for future doctors to diagnose breast cancer who owned a woman, what drugs are effective or not, and treatment is much more precisely than exist today, "said lead researcher Professor Carlos Caldas.
Currently, breast cancer is classified based on the results of microscopic examination and tumor marker tests. Cancers that have 'estrogen receptor' will respond to hormonal therapy tamoxifen, while those with 'Her2 receptor' can be treated with Herceptin.
In the majority of breast cancer, more than 70% of cases respond to hormonal therapy. However, the reaction varies. According to prof Caldas, some treatments work well, while a few actually make it worse. The types of breast cancer requires a better classification.
Prof Caldas observe frozen samples of breast cancer in the women's 2,000 people hospital UK and Canada. He and his team look into the details of tumor cells that have been genetically mutated.
Research shows that normal cells turn into cancer in different ways and can be grouped into 10 categories. Researchers call it IntClust 1 to 10.
"This is the largest study to look in detail the genetics of breast tumors. Findings will change the way we look at breast cancer and the impact is huge in diagnosing and treating breast cancer. This is a very important research," said Dr. Harpal Kumar, CEO of Cancer Research UK who funded the research.
The researchers must prove that grouping several types of breast cancer is actually beneficial to patients before it can be widely used by clinicians. This process is expected to take 3-5 years.
Meanwhile, for most types of breast cancer are rare cancers nipple, known as Paget's disease. The spread of this cancer begins and spreads to the ductus skin around the nipple and areola (the dark circle around the nipple).
The skin around the nipple often feels rough, speckled, red and bleeding. Patients will feel itchy and hot.
